TASER Training from JPC

JPC now offers TASER training. This six (6) hour course includes an overview of TASER electronic policy issues, medical information and risk mitigation.

Attendees will receive substantial factual information as to how TASER electronic control devices incapacitate individuals, how these devices fit into law enforcement use-of-force deployment strategies, training considerations, various policy recommendations (including IACP, PERF and others), what medical studies are being performed and the current findings, the effects of TASER devices on liability exposures and on reducing officers’ and suspects’ injuries.

To complete this training course students are required to pass the written examination with a score of 80% of higher in addition to completing all functional testing to the satisfaction of the instructor. Students are also required to correctly discharge taser catridges. A minimum of two (2) cartridges must be discharged for certification. Students must be able to hit the target from 8 feet without the laser sight, and must be able to hit the target from 12 feet using a laser sight and discharge two TASER cartridges within 10-second time limit.

TASER Certification is valid for a period of one year and must be recertified annually.
